Learning Outcome 1

I this, and I that. For the second project of the semester, we focused heavily on the ability to communicate with a reader without directly being in front of them. This comes from creating a summary narrative of a block of information and showing the future reader the important points that, you as the writer, have either experienced or seen through your studies. This designs a fascinating interaction between the original creator, the author of an interpreted work, and the reader, where all parties take part in visualizing each other’s viewpoints differently yet understanding the stories and experiences as if they were their own. For many of the revisions in my first few drafts, I found quite a bit of 1st person language, just like this sentence. There were a few too many times where a block of information was written into the essay, and I would jump right into personal experiences of my own. Although never a bad thing when trying to create a story, but this wasn’t supposed to be some kind of bibliography. This story was supposed to entail a multitude of personalities, ideas, backgrounds of a selection of people. This was where the true story was hidden. Under the different layers of my own preferences and choice cuts of language. But nevertheless, changes were made, and information was rearranged into a simplified yet complex design of those same personal experiences, but this time with plenty of input both from the other writers who were being studied, and the original readers who gave input on what changes did in fact need to be made. This strengthened my arguments; it made the story clearer and gave a better shape to the presentation of information to the reader. I found receiving peer revision ideas easier during the second round, as most people began to feel a little more comfortable around others while giving them advice and soft judgement. But this went a long way, not only for me but some of the other writers as well. We could see their work improve, and I noticed some of the revisions I had suggested made it into their final drafts, and eventually (and hopefully) their final essay to be turned in. That felt pretty good that I was able to sway someone’s mind in a good way to help them not only make their argument durable but influence the way the interpret data and find that solidified conclusion.
